Flying Boats! One of the distinctive and fun things about the "retro row" area of Long Beach is the daily fly overs by vintage DC-3's! Even the planes are old school over here! Actually the Douglas Skytrain pictured is a circa 1945 DC-3A-467 and it continues doing daily cargo runs from Long Beach airport to Catalina Island.
These lumbering planes almost appear to be not moving as the propellers drag the craft through the afternoon sky. Yet another great reason to stop by our area and visit one of the most fun and interesting antiquing areas anywhere. So remember if you hear something buzzing by overhead-chances are it's as vintage as the stuff you see in the stores!
