A weekend getaway to Palm Springs, CA proved to be the cure for my residual holiday stress. I snatched a Palm Springs Shopper's Map and headed east on I-10.
Perez Design Center, located just south of Palm Springs in Cathedral City, boasts an impressive cluster of design and furniture stores. I stopped by Hedge, where owners, Charles Pearson and Thomas Sharkey shared their latest arrivals: fencing masks and a vintage Wilson catcher's mask. These interesting pieces were displayed among their collection of mid-century and modern furniture and art.

Next door I discovered @Hom, an exciting maze of vintage and new furniture and original art. Store owners, Lee Thomas and Scot Nelson specialize in home staging and most recently staged the V.I.P. celebrity lobby for the Palm Springs Film Festival.

A couple doors down I spotted, Michael C. Hall, from the popular television series, Dexter, purchasing an original oil painting from Colin Fisher Studios.

I made my way down the row and found JP Denmark. Importing directly from Denmark, these experts have been bringing quality Danish furniture from the 1950s and 1960s for more than thirty five years.
Little Shop of Treasures
Heading North on the 111, I found Little Shop of Treasures, a multi-dealer store where I found this amazing Italian mask that I could not resist trying it on.
With a hard to miss store front, Asylum will draw you in and keep you inside with 8,000 sq. ft. of mid-century indoor and outdoor furniture and impressive accessories, lighting and wall decor.

Just a little up the road is Dazzles and Dazzles Too. Although they have amazing Barware, vintage accessories, and outdoor patio furniture galore, I could not help but be drawn to the most colorful array of enameled flower pins I had ever seen!
Shop owner, Mike Sauls, smiled while I stared bright-eyed into the glass case like a child at the candy store, pointing and drooling. Mike wrapped up my flower of choice and I practically skipped out of the store to my hotel.
I decided to stay in the Ace Hotel, after discovering the hotel was designed and decorated with furniture and accessories purchased in some of the Palm Spring stores I had just visited. The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs is a renovated mid-century modern building with a unique lodging experience.
Each room has a different design and concept and uses old and new pieces to create one of a kind rooms. From the lobby to the pool area, the decor and ambiance are cohesive and hip. The staff were incredibly friendly and when it was time to check out I reluctantly bid a farewell to the Ace and to my new desert oasis, Palm Springs.
